Notes

Durham College (DC) is proud to partner with Johnson Controls to award annual entrance bursaries to five students entering their first semester of studies in the Electromechanical Engineering Technology program. These bursaries are designed to help those with demonstrated financial need and who belong to an equity-deserving group, including but not limited to, those who are racialized, identify as female, or have a disability. Each Johnson Controls Entrance Bursary is valued at $2,000 and includes mentorship and networking opportunities with local Johnson Controls employees. Many DC graduates of the Electromechanical Engineering Technology program are leading the way in their careers at Johnson Controls, which showcases the program’s success in the industry. These entrance bursaries are an extension of DC’s four-year partnership with Johnson Controls that also includes a gift-in-kind donation of new equipment for DC’s lab space. To apply for the bursary, interested students should prepare a submission that is a maximum of one page in length (11 point font, double-spaced) and that addresses or confirms:
  • They are applying for admission to and meet the admissions requirements for the first year of the Electromechanical Engineering Technology program;
  • Explain how the bursary will support their financial need;
  • A commitment to attending promotional opportunities and events to develop interest in the Electromechanical Engineering Technology program;
  • They are from an equity-deserving group; and
  • Why they are pursuing a career in this field.
  • Agree to help promote the bursary and partnership with Johnson Controls.
Please submit the applicable signed and completed one-page document no later than 4 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023, to SEIT@durhamcollege.ca, with the subject line Johnson Controls Entrance Bursary Application. Attaching a resume that outlines any work, volunteer or other related experiences, activities and interests is encouraged.
